How Sad Am I?

Is it me or…does the fear factor in the USofA seem to be made daily?

How sad is it that I miss the Cold War? At least we knew the threat was real and it wasn’t a contrived theory of impending doom. Every decade since my birth in 1965 the doomsayers have prophesied my demise. According to the weatherologists of the time and since have projected mankind as the devil incarnate to the Earth. In the 1970s Florida was predicted to be totally under water by the end of the 1980s. By the 1980s we as humans should have been incinerated like ants under a magnifying glass on a hot summer day in Death Valley, CA due to the hole in the ozone layer. Y2K, the end on the Mayan calendar, these are many of the scientific predictions we continue to reflect on an laugh at ourselves. “But we know more now”, we say. “The science is more advanced now”, we argue. Are we as humans arrogant enough to believe the bullshit we’re slinging thinking we know the plans the universe has for us? Are we so arrogant that we think we have any control of this planet and what it plans for us? I don’t think so. It’s all a guess. An educated guess to be sure. But a guess just the same. If we could predict the future life would be boring.

But this is just my opinion. Feel free to have one of your own.

Terms and Conditions: I would love to read your comments and opinions. If you comment I require you to have an opinion of your own. Don’t just say “I disagree”. Why do you disagree? In order for me to learn I need to know why. I also ask that you keep a civil tongue. I speak only for myself. To paraphrase John Wayne as J.B. Books from the 1976 movie The Shootist, I will not be called names. I will not be demeaned or ridiculed. I will not be chastised for my opinion. I don’t do these things to others, and I require the same from you. We can have an adult conversation. DO NOT take as an example of adult conversations our governmental representatives. They are rife with junior high schoolyard spats. We are not them.
